Doug’s knowledge of carpet construction, dying methods, soil and stain repellents, and how each affects our ability to clean and restore – along with his ability to pass on this knowledge - is just a few of the many reasons for over 35 years he has had the privilege of assisting countless thousands of folks to use that knowledge to develop, operate, and contribute to their successful Carpet Cleaning businesses. Doug is known for his humorous approach, making learning FUN – a true “Edutainer.”

Sandy has birthed, owned, operated, and sold three restoration businesses during her career. During that time, she’s been able to help many folks solve problems in their own restoration businesses. She’s had the privilege of being the Chair of the IICRC Fire & Smoke Restoration Technician (FSRT) Technical Advisory Committee for over 16 years. She’s an IICRC Triple-Master and has taken that in-field experience, education, and knowledge, and as an IICRC Instructor, she's passed her experience on to her students wanting to achieve both expertise and IICRC certifications for close to 30 years.

Ronnie Brown joins the Horizon Educational Seminars' Family with over 30 years experience in the Cleaning and Restoration Industries.   He brings that wealth of experience - with a good dose of humor - to every class.  He's known for weaving personal anecdotes into his lessons, making even the trickiest cleaning challenges memorable.  Whether it's a tale of a carpet catastrophe or a laugh-out-loud moment from the field, Ronnie is a GREAT fit for our instructor family because he also believes learning should be fun and engaging.

THE CHALLENGE AND THE ADVANTAGE

The challenge of a successful business often depends on the ability to access quality training. In recent years, on-line training has become a viable and valuable source of educating business owners and their employees.
The opportunity to fill the need of education has been met with courses that can be accessed through computers and tablets, and literally thousands of companies have discovered how to evaluate, qualify, and benefit from live on-line training.
Here are a few of those advantages for you to think about:

THE ADVANTAGES

You do not have both the time and expense of travel.
You do not have the expense of hotel accommodations and you sleep in your own bed. There are no additional meal and incidental expenses.
You are not confused by the opinions and the influences of others.
There is no one there trying to sell you something.
There is no one that may try to hire your valued employee.
Employers can monitor their employee's progress.
You still get a comprehensive reference manual and field guide.

ANOTHER POSITIVE PLUS

In addition to the above advantages of live on-line training, we go above and beyond when it comes to providing every student with an entertaining and educational experience. We love teaching and we make learning fun. We treat our students like family and nurture them with follow-up help when needed.

Added to the above, our combination of 60 years of experience as professional instructors as well as 40 years of birthing and growing our own cleaning and restoration businesses will ensure you have made the best choice for your training.

Sandy Bowles is an IICRC Approved Instructor teaching Water Restoration Technician, Fire and Smoke Restoration Technician, and Odor Control Technician courses through Horizon Educational Seminars.

With decades of real restoration experience behind her instruction, Sandy teaches more than textbook theory. Her classes are built for restoration professionals who need to understand the work, make better field decisions, document losses properly, and serve customers with confidence when water, fire, smoke, and odor problems are on the line.

Whether you are new to the industry, training technicians, building your restoration company, or pursuing additional IICRC certification, Sandy’s courses are designed to give students practical knowledge they can take back to the job immediately.

IICRC WRT Water Restoration Technician Training

The IICRC WRT Water Restoration Technician course is one of the most important foundational classes in the restoration industry. Water losses move quickly, and the decisions made in the first hours can affect the structure, the contents, the insurance file, and the final outcome of the job.

Sandy’s WRT instruction helps students understand the principles behind water damage restoration, structural drying, moisture inspection, contamination concerns, job-site documentation, and the restoration process from first response to completion.Students learn how to think through a water loss with a technician’s eye and a restorer’s responsibility. The class is designed to help professionals understand not only what to do, but why each step matters. This course is especially valuable for:

  • Water damage restoration technicians
  • Mitigation companies
  • Cleaning and restoration businesses
  • Insurance restoration professionals
  • Contractors entering the restoration industry
  • Business owners training field staff

The goal is simple: give restoration professionals the knowledge they need to approach water losses with confidence, consistency, and professional care.

IICRC FSRT Fire Smoke Restoration Technician Training

Fire and smoke losses are some of the most complex jobs in the restoration industry. A fire loss is not just about visible damage. Smoke movement, soot contamination, odor, material sensitivity, source identification, cleaning methods, and documentation all matter.

The IICRC FSRT Fire Smoke Restoration Technician course taught by Sandy Bowles gives students a deeper understanding of fire and smoke restoration principles. Students are introduced to the conditions commonly found after a fire, including smoke residue, odor concerns, cleaning challenges, and restoration decision-making.

Sandy brings field-tested insight into the classroom, helping students understand the difference between simply cleaning a damaged area and properly evaluating the full fire and smoke restoration picture. This course helps restoration professionals better understand:

  • Fire damage conditions
  • Smoke residue behavior
  • Soot contamination
  • Cleaning methods and limitations
  • Odor concerns after fire losses
  • Documentation and communication
  • Restoration workflow and job planning

For technicians and companies handling fire losses, FSRT training is a major step toward better technical understanding and more professional service.

IICRC OCT Odor Control Technician Training

Odor problems can be frustrating, misunderstood, and difficult to solve when the source is not properly identified. The IICRC OCT Odor Control Technician course gives restoration and cleaning professionals a stronger foundation in odor control, deodorization, and source-based treatment.

Sandy’s odor control training helps students understand that odor work is not guesswork. Successful odor control begins with identifying the source, understanding how odors travel, selecting the right treatment approach, and knowing the limits of each method.

This course is especially important for professionals dealing with:

  • Fire and smoke odor
  • Water damage odor
  • Biological odors
  • Contents-related odor
  • Structural odor concerns
  • Deodorization after restoration work
  • Difficult odor complaints

The OCT course gives students practical education in odor control so they can approach odor problems with more confidence and a clearer process.

40+ Years Restoration Experience

Sandy Bowles brings more than classroom knowledge to her instruction. Her teaching is shaped by over 40 years of restoration industry experience, including hands-on knowledge of water damage, fire and smoke damage, odor control, contents, cleaning, documentation, and the realities restoration professionals face in the field. That level of experience matters.

Students are not just learning from someone who understands course material. They are learning from an instructor who understands how restoration work actually happens: the pressure of emergency response, the uncertainty of loss conditions, the importance of documentation, and the need to make sound decisions when every job is different.

Her experience helps bridge the gap between technical standards and real-world restoration work.

IICRC Triple-Master Background

Sandy Bowles is recognized as an IICRC Triple-Master, a distinction that reflects advanced training and achievement across multiple areas of the cleaning and restoration industry.

This background strengthens her ability to teach water, fire, smoke, odor, and restoration principles from a broader technical perspective. Students benefit from an instructor who understands how different restoration disciplines connect together.

Water damage may lead to odor concerns. Fire losses may involve smoke, contents, structure, cleaning methods, and deodorization. Restoration work rarely fits into one narrow category. Sandy’s background allows her to teach with that bigger picture in mind. Her instruction helps students understand the relationship between technical knowledge, field judgment, and professional responsibility.
